Step through a transdimensional hole in an old suitcase and land somewhere between 1905 and 1958, where the records never stopped spinning. DJ Hand-Crank has collected over 1,500 ghosts in the form of antique 78rpm records, plaintive love songs, early rock and roll, fairy tales read in voices from another century, and she’s bringing them all back to life on modified hand-cranked gramophones.

Every track is a small resurrection. A crackle, a hiss, and then a voice or a melody that hasn’t been heard in decades, piped live into the virtual playa just for us.

Expect hot jazz, swing, old blues, and a little early 1950s polka thrown in for good measure. It’s nostalgic, it’s soothing, and it’s totally fictitious, a perfect past that never quite existed but feels like home anyway.
